Going to Sacramento

C and R are going to Sacramento. We are going to Sacramento this Saturday. We are going to see the Monarchs play the LA Sparks (and if you don’t recognize those teams names then you aren’t a fan of women’s basketball). We are going to see Nicole Powell (former Stanford player), Courtney Paris (former bay Area Girl) and Kara Lawson, (former ESPN women’s college basketball analysis we love to listen to, although she might be doing that again this year). We are going to see Lisa Leslie, probably for the last time, and Candace Parker (former Tennessee player and Cardinal Killer) and maybe even see her baby! We are going to be surrounded by “Women of Inspiration”, and we are going to see former Olympian Misty May-Treanor! And we are going all for free. Why? Because the WNBA cares! Well, actually, the WNBA wanted to reach out to moms with blogs to get them to come to a free game to spread the word, and when that fell through we felt like they didn’t care, and C and R were so disappointed the Director of Marketing & Business Operations herself contacted us and offered us her hospitality and the afore-mentioned free seats.

Well, actually, we felt like the WNBA didn’t care when they offered mommy bloggers free tickets to get them to come to a free game to spread the word, and when that fell through we felt like they didn’t care, and C and R were so disappointed the Director of Marketing & Business Operations herself contacted us and offered us her hospitality and the afore-mentioned free seats.

No, Really! I think it is an ingenious why to get some free publicity. We are spreading the word right now about going to see Nicole, Courtney, Kara, Lisa and Candace. Who cares what the standings are or what the final score is. (Oops, I am sure the Director of Marketing & Business Operations cares…okay, the LA Sparks are in second to last place in the Western Conference and Sacramento is in last place in the Western Conference). We don’t care; we are going to be thoroughly entertained by these talented women.

Plus it is the Monarchs 2009 Women of Inspiration Night. Misty May-Treanor, who was half the duo with Kerry Walsh (went to high school right down the road here at Mitty, and a former Cardinal), that won back-to-back gold medals in beach volleyball will speak. We are already inspired.

So come one out to ARCO Arena on Saturday, August 15, as Sacramento takes on the Los Angeles Sparks at 7 PM. Come see us in our courtside seats (or up in the rafters, wherever they stick us), either way it will be a heck of a night!
